Green Vehicles Creates Green for Locals
SALINAS, Calif.- A new business in Salinas looks to take a bite out of the unemployment rate.
Green vehicles has begun manufacturing and needs workers, you might as 'businesses hiring?' It is possible, Green Vehicles says they aren't only making the cars of the future, but also jobs of the future on the Central Coast.
All the new hires at Green Vehicles had been out of work for more that a few months, "I've been doing job searches for a year now, looking for something that paid decently; a lot of them wanted more experience, its really hard for me to do with a family, it's good that this came along, they did on the job training," says Brandon Morris.
Morris is one of the first three to be hired by the new Salinas car company who are hoping to make some green off making green cars.
"It's going to be a growing industry, we know were going to have to train people with electric vehicles, but we feel we can bring people with mechanic and electrical backgrounds pretty quickly, within six months," says VP Lee Colin.
And that's good news for Mary Lutz who says she not only found work, but a maybe a career on the cutting edge of a growing trend.
"New technology and it's evironmentally sound. I care about the environment so that's something I can back up and be a part of with this," says Lutz.
And the potential that this job brings is hope enough for these three that there is light at the end of a long tunnel.
"I'm happy," says Shinta Hanson, "you wake up you don't know what you need to do, it makes you crazy looking at a computer to find a job."
Brandon Morris agrees, "I'm excited especially starting at the ground level, I can work my way up and learn all the actual aspects of the vehicle; and the longevity of it because I see green vehicles being the wave of the future."
